Datos estructurados: qué son y cómo implementarlos para Google

¿Qué son los datos estructurados?

Structured data is code tags that are inserted into our pages with información extra para los buscadores. This information, whose structure is based on tags, helps search engines better understand our content.

Additionally, structured data improves the appearance of our pages in search results.

Whether you're looking for a Web Design Studio in Valencia or a SEO Agency in Madrid to help you integrate structured data into your site, you can contact us and we will advise you on the matter.

Why do we use structured data?

Structured data gives us an advantage since search engines, despite having million-dollar budgets, their search algorithms are still robots with limitations. And the meaning of the words is one of its weak points. In order for them to do their job better, they must be taught that the words they read every day refer to objects, places, actions, people...

Schema and structured data

Schema.org is a collaborative project of Google, Bing, Yahoo and Yandex, whose purpose is to improve the Internet by helping search engines offer richer results to users.

And to achieve this, Schema.org has a structured data vocabulary. It is a vocabulary that has more than 600 “schemas” with which to identify events, places, articles, businesses, recipes, products, prices, reviews...

Add structured data to your website

The process of adding schema markup to your website can be a bit lengthy. It all depends on the system you use to manage your website and the level of control you want to have over the process.

1) Using WordPress plugins

If you have a WordPress website, then using schema markup will be extremely easy for you. There are many plugins for this that you can use. In our opinion, the best is Schema App Structured Data.

2) Using Google Structured Data Markup Assistant

Here's another method for adding structured data, which is actually quite simple. This method will work for any website, no matter where you have hosting or what type of site it is.

Google provides the Structured Data Markup Assistant to help webmasters add schema markup to their websites without any problems.

3) Add Structured Data manually

There is a third option that you can use, which is to add the schema markup manually.

Marking data using JSON-LD is the manual method: it only requires adding a tag to the page. We talk about a label <Script> that contains the structured data.

In this example of data markup using JSON-LD we identify data about the movie "Joker" using the Schema.org vocabulary (types "Movie" and "Person" with properties "name", "image" and "actor").

A code example of this markup would be the following:

<Head>
<title>Party Coffee Cake</title>
<script type”application/ld+json”>
{
“@context”: “https://schema.org/”,
“@type”: “Recipe”,
“name”: “Party Coffee Cake”,
“author”: {
“@type”: “Person”,
“name”: “Mary Stone”
},
“datePublished”: “2018-03-10”,
“description”: “This coffee cake is awesome and perfect for parties.”,
“prepTime”: “PT20M”
}
</script>
</head>

Structured data markup will give us an advantage when indexing our content in a clarified and organized way, which will help our results stand out and offer a better response to the user.

If you would like to include this markup on your website, you can contact us without obligation.
